Mobilization Against War and Occupation is a coalition of over 50 endorsing members, most of which are labor unions, student unions, indigenous groups, Women’s Organizations, and groups from the third world. We are the people in struggle because we are people that suffer at the hands of imperialism, we have the energy and drive for change, and it is in our interest to make this change!

Festival Against War & Occupation

This September the greater Vancouver region will once again be the base camp for Mobilization Against War and Occupation’s 5th Annual International Hip Hop Festival Against War and Occupation ~ HIP HOP VERSUS WAR 5. Over the course of 48 hours, a veritable army of MC’s, DJ’s, breakdancers, graffiti artists, beatboxers, spoken word poets and participants from all continents will come together to showcase a blistering arsenal of radical sentiment and robust hope for humanity.
Last year’s 2008 Hip Hop Versus War 4 Festival was a great success, bringing together over 1,700 people over the two day festival who answered the MCs’ call to “put your peace signs up!” and chanted “We love hip hop ~ no to war!” in the same breath. This unique festival reached the national scene, with media coverage from CBC TV.
This year’s festival will be featuring, ‘Obsesion,’ direct from Cuba! Obsesion, a world-renowned and breaking edge hip hop crew, will bring the flavor of the Cuban spirit and revolutionary dedication to our collective struggle for humanity.
This global phenomenon of hip hop is a language of resistance to oppression spoken around the world ~ from Palestinian refugee camps, to the ghettos of New York City, from Latin American barrios, to the Native nations of North America. Don’t miss this one of a kind festival when it hits Vancouver!
